Did you know that Red River Gorge and its surrounding areas is home to some of the most sought after rock climbing areas in the world? Climbers visit from all over the world to play on the sand stone mecca. A hidden gem for many years is now evolving and growing into a must see destination spot.
There are several rock climbing guide books that are available for purchase, you can find them online or as you are passing through Red River Gorge itself.
It's rumored that Red River Gorge is also one of the best places to explore the geological formation of arches outside of Utah, left from years of river and wind shaping. There have been at least 150 arches discovered. Some of the more known arches to explore are Grey's Arch, Sky Bridge, and Natural Bridge. There are a wide variety of amazing hikes ranging from beginner to difficult, that will take you to breathtaking views. Pack a lunch and make a day out of it.

We can not forget to mention the spectacular variety of wildlife incorporated in and around Legacy Valley. There are deer, fox, black bears, owls, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, hawks and if you're lucky you'll see eagles. There are 2 types of venomous snakes to be on the lookout for. They are the copperhead and timber rattlesnake. Always use caution with your surroundings when exploring and enjoying the beauty of nature.
